Biography
Recently named President and CEO of Nevro Corp., Mr. Grossman has more than 35 years of experience as a leader in the medical devices and supplies industry, as both an executive and investor.
Named CEO and President of Thoratec Corporation for the second time in 2014, Mr. Grossman led the company’s return to growth, and to its $3.4 billion acquisition by St. Jude Medical. Prior to Thoratec, he served as CEO and President of Conceptus, Inc. from 2011 to 2013, where he led the company’s return to growth and profitability, and to its acquisition by Bayer Healthcare for over $1.1 billion. Prior to Conceptus, he served as Managing Director of TPG (Texas Pacific Group) from 2007 to 2011. Before joining TPG, he was CEO and President of Thoratec from 1996 to 2006, when revenue grew from product launch to over $200 million.
Mr. Grossman currently serves as Vice Chairman of Alcon, Inc. and as Chairman of Outset Medical, Inc. He also serves as a Board member for ViewRay, Inc., Vyaire Medical, Inc., and TherOx, Inc. He has previously served on the public company Boards of not only Thoratec and Conceptus, but also Zeltiq, Inc. (Lead Director), Kyphon, Inc. and Intuitive Surgical, Inc., as well as numerous private companies. He is also a former member of the Board of Directors of the Medical Device Manufacturers Association.
Mr. Grossman was awarded the Phoenix Medical Device CEO Lifetime Achievement Award by his peers in 2017.
