Welcome to Our Medtech Talk Podcast Channel

Too often we define the Medtech sector by the number of dollars raised, IPOs helped or companies sold. But the focus neglects the very foundation of the sector - the People. Join the Medtech Talk Podcast each week to hear from entrepreneurs, investors and executives who spend their days developing the tools that make sick people well and health care more efficient.

SightLine’s Biller Advises Entrepreneurs and Investors to Look at Strength of a Syndicate

SightLine’s Biller Gives Overview of Venture Market

Investors always have to be mindful of who their partners are, says Joe Biller, managing director of SightLine Partners, but it’s more crucial than ever in today’s environment. “Depending on what stage you invest in, you need to be aware of any complexities that may come across that may not allow you to raise outside capital,” he advises. The challenge has always been there, but today, more than ever, it’s critical to ensure success. Investors also should understand which factors are outside of the company’s control because those can require more time and money. Regulatory aspects, financial markets, and the exit environment are all aspects that prevent prediction models from being precise. Biller acknowledges that there’s been a fallout in the venture community, but there’s still a number of great groups continuing to fund opportunities. “It’s all about finding the ‘secret sauce’ to bring the right syndicate partners to the deal with the right terms and the right management.” It’s even more important for late-stage investors to ensure that they have all the right pieces of the puzzle.
